Travel Diaries: Tenby, Wales

Gorgeous beach in Tenby, UK
In July I went on a week vacation with my husband, Joe, and his family to Tenby, Wales.
I have to admit, when I first found out we were going to Wales, I wasn’t absolutely jumping with excitement. I was definitely excited to spend the week with everyone, but Wales had never really been at the top of my list of places to visit. Tenby was such a pleasant surprise though! Of course getting there involves mostly driving through a lot of nothing. But Tenby was a charming town and the beach was absolutely gorgeous.
It was full of colorful buildings, which I obviously took a million pictures of. I kept worrying that someone would walk out of their house as I was taking a picture!
This was much more of a relaxed vacation than one of those touristy, see everything types. We spent a lot of time hanging out at the awesome house we stayed in. It had a big living room/dining area and a lovely backyard with a hot tub. It was so nice to just hang out, watch movies, and play games (including a very long game of Monopoly). We girls spent some time planning when we all have kids and we’ll meet for regular brunches, driving our Range Rovers. We spent a lot of time at the beach; it wasn’t super warm though so we didn’t do a whole lot of swimming. There was lots of frisbee throwing and hole digging (reminding me that Joe is basically still a child).
We did a little bit of exploring in the town, which ended up being bigger than we expected at first. There were actually quite a few stores, a lot of restaurants, and a lot of ice cream stands. One afternoon Joe and I went to a little coffee shop built into an arch of the wall just off the harbor. The drink was slightly disappointing but they had some hilarious books on the table that looked like children’s books but had some very adult humor. We went for a delicious dinner at Top Joe’s Pizza one night, and followed it up with a drink and a game of jenga (okay I just watched, I don’t have steady enough hands for that).
Other than that it was pretty chill so not really much to report. I mostly wanted to share some pictures. If anything at least my mom will be excited. 😉

All in all it was an extremely lovely holiday with some of my favorite people!

xoxo
